Monsignor William F. Cuddy is a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston and a retired Navy Chaplain, Captain, who served for a total of over 43-years honorably. In retirement Msgr. Cuddy continued to minister by serving several parishes in the Archdiocese, and currently at Hanscom Air Force Base, where he provides for the sacramental and pastoral needs of our military personnel and their dependents.
A graduate of Cathedral High School, Msgr. Cuddy enlisted in the US Navy Reserves in 1967, and following Active Duty and college graduation, he enter St. John’s Seminary, Brighton, MA and was Ordained by Cardinal Humberto Medeiros in 1979. In 1980 he transitioned from the USN Theological Student Program to the USN Chaplain Corps Reserves; and in 1990 the Archbishop of Boston released him for service to the US Navy. Msgr. Cuddy served our military and Sea Service personnel and their families in a variety of global assignments.
Monsignor Cuddy received numerous military awards, along with being honored for his humanitarian service by the Japanese Government. He retired in December 2010 following his tour as the 8th Chaplain of the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, DC. In 2008 he was named Monsignor, Chaplain to His Holiness, by Pope Benedict XVI.
