John T. Ruggieri is a seasoned financial executive and former certified public accountant with extensive experience in construction, manufacturing, and real estate. He served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Gilbane Building Company, a global integrated construction and facility management services firm, and as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Gilbane, Inc., an international construction and real estate development firm, from 2005 until his retirement in April 2022.
Mr. Ruggieri began his career at A.T. Cross Company, a global manufacturer of fine writing instruments and personal accessories. Over a 24-year tenure, he held a series of progressively senior roles, culminating in his appointment as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1997. In 2001, he also assumed leadership of the company’s Pen Computing Group as President, guiding the division through innovations in digital writing technology.
Prior to joining the Gilbane companies, Mr. Ruggieri served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Emissive Energy Corporation. There, he was instrumental in financial operations and capital management during a critical phase of product development and market expansion. Beyond his corporate roles Mr. Ruggieri contributes his expertise to several organizations, bringing a strong foundation in financial oversight to each of his boards. He previously served as Chairman of Delta Dental of Rhode Island, and now serves as an Independent Director at Washington Trust Bancorp, Inc.
Mr. Ruggieri was first introduced to the Foundation and its mission following the ordination and installation of his brother, Bishop James Thomas Ruggieri, as the 13th Bishop of Portland, Maine. While new to the ministries of the Foundation and the AMS, he is eager to contribute his decades of leadership and expertise in global finance, accounting, auditing, and strategic planning to the Board. He and his wife, Peggy, are currently enjoying retirement in Rhode Island.
